True. Begs the question as to what is "pure English" though.
I disagree. It doesn't beg a question at all because the question is
irrelevant, even if you substitute "pure Applescript" for "pure
English".
I subscribed to this list because I'm interested in Applescript; I
did not subscribe to the Macscripters list because I have no interest
in any other scripting language.
The only reason I would use "do script" is if there were no other way
to accomplish the task. For example:
do shell script "defaults write com.apple.dock mineffect " & (button
returned of (display dialog "Which Dock effect do you want?" buttons
{"scale", "genie", " suck"})) & ";killall Dock"
I don't know of any other way to do this without a shell script.
