Some people will offer a shell script solution when there is a perfectly good Applescript solution available.


And despite Applescript's quirks that make it *almost* English like, it is still usually more readable and understandable than most shell scripts. Of course, it is possible to write hideous Applescripts that are almost impossible to decipher, but I think that's the exception, not the norm.
