This is proving harder than originally thought. While using Luther's
droplet script to create the background image in a folder is working
nicely, the moment I update the saved bundle script (containing the splash
screen folder) or move the script to another location the folder defaults
back to no picture and different size/location.
I've tried searching the net for a simple, faceless application that I
could use to display the image but no such beast exists to my knowledge.
I'm thinking I'll have to resort to AppleScript Studio but I've previously
tried to dabble in that area and got lost very quickly.
Any thoughts? I'm simply after something which will display a simple JPEG,
somewhere in the middle of the screen, for 2 seconds then go away. It's a
shame this couldn't be built into AppleScript Editor as part of the Bundle
Script apps.

Yes. Create a folder; Put your graphic file into the folder; Set the
graphic file as the background picture for the folder and make the
file invisible; Put the folder into your application bundle; Your
application simply opens the folder.
