Certainly not the place for this discussion, but:
1/ I think that getAttribute("class") breaks with some of the popular browsers - I don't have time to test and be more specific,
2/ I don't know a circumstance where getAttribute would be needed instead of [blah] or .blah. If you know one, please tell me.
