[warning, no code here, code-free, leave if in a hurry. I'm just trying to get over possibly giving unintended offence.]
And LOLCODE is a joke programming language inspired by the langauge of
lolcat macros, not really applicable in this context. :)
Have horrible impression that I started annoying people with this, but it was intended to be a compressed version of the following comment:

1) I totally get that Applescript can be Good & Right, and in fact it doesn't matter what language you code in.
2) Unfortunately, I have done it in the Bad & Wrong way.
3) The conceptual gulf between the Bad & Wrong Way and the Good & Right Way is worrying me.
4) I'm making defensive jokes to cover up my fear of the vast gulf I'm about to leap across in yet another unsuccessful attempt to learn programming properly from a book as opposed to by messing about, and I have an awful feeling it will fail.
5) I fear I may have got the wrong book for next time which is a bit above my level and ambitious, like the last six (C, C++, XSLT, Javascript, Delphi, VB, and VBA).
6. I have a horrible feeling that people took my mild joke on my own lack of skill as an attack on their language of choice.
7. I have nothing but respect for people who can code cleanly in Applescript. It's just that I'm not one of them. At least not yet. I need too much help.

Speaking as a Real Programmer, we'd much rather you ask questions like
that then, as many people in that situation do, blithely assume you
know what you're doing and publish or put into production fragile,
buggy code...
:-)

Regards, R
