Ruth,
This list was created for you and others just like you, people just starting
in AppleScript, who may be a little intimidated by the prospect of scripting
and programming.
I suggest you dive right in. Try writing short scripts that do simple
things, and when you get to something that doesn't seem to work, or a
concept that's not immediately clear, post the script or your question here
and ask for guidance.
You'll get plenty, and, if you stick with it, with in a few weeks you'll
achieve what I call "AppleScript Language Acquisition," and you could be
scripting like a pro in no time.
My advice is to be patient with yourself and the technology, start small and
simple and then build to big and complex.
