I just ran a test with .png and .jpg picture files ... worked perfectly. Then I tried using a .jp2 = "JPEG 2000 Image" file ... failed.

Make sure that your .jpg file is actually a "JPEG Image", not a "JPEG 2000 Image" file.
A "JPEG 2000 Image" file will not even work when you try setting the backgroung manually via the Finder.

Many thanks for that Luther... a very simple and effective idea!

However, when I drop my test JPG file (screenshot of part of desktop,
"Picture 1.jpg) onto the app from within a test folder it neither turns
into the folder's background or moves into the hidden folder.

I tried a few different times with different folders and none of them are
working.

Cheers,

Coj

Yes. Create a folder; Put your graphic file into the folder; Set the graphic file as the background picture for the folder and make the file invisible; Put the folder into your application bundle; Your application simply opens the folder.

You will find this useful ...

Is it possible to place a graphic file of some sort into your
AppleScript
Bundle app and simply call it at the beginning of the script (without
having to launch a proggy to view it) like a splash screen or does
this
require AppleScript Studio?
