So, this should rule out an architecture mismatch.
Anyway, just to be sure, could you have a look at your
    /System/Library/ScriptingAdditions/StandardAdditions.osax
bundle? Mine appears to be an universal one.

OTOH, perhaps some informative messages get written to some log file, very likely console.log, while double-clicking the failing application.
