Thought I would chip here how, for many years now I have wondered...
Why not just leave the old code in AS, maybe mark it as 'deprecated'
in the AS Dictionary so that new writing can catch it and even some
revision in current projects, but let all the old code continue to work?
These kinds of changes cost a lot of time and money for end users,
dramatically reduce the thrill factor, and induce a creeping feeling
of always having to reinvent-the-wheel... not very green.
Only about 10% of the scripts I started out writing ten years ago
still work and I just don't have the time to go back re&re what were
and would still be useful scripts. From what I read in this list it
looks like it is soon to be about 5% as I transition to Leop.
I guess I bought in that Applescript was supposed to be there to
help me get on with the things i really do make a living with, but if
kept uptodate I would have to quit my day job! Hint, hint... I really
like my day job !;-)

I'd say that the new version is actually more natural and
convenient, but it's always a bit of a disruption to have to debug
and fix a previously working script that's an important part of
your work flow.
