Thank you very much Emmanuel. It is much more elegant and now I know
the syntax for using "once" in iTunes.

Maybe the syntax is not obvious, but for me it works and it seems
more elegant than programming to quit like you do:
tell application "iTunes" to play track 1 of playlist 1 with once
will play the 1st song and then stop.
