Looks like an ellipsis to me. I think the subsequent S is a bad
conversion. You can see it in the quoted portion of my email where
I used an ellipsis.

Right, I typed the ellipsis in Mail as I always do: alt + semi-colon.
I apologize if it appears as a nuisance.
In fact, it appears correctly when I received my original message
from the forum.
I really don't understand how it became
"Content-Type: text/plain; charset=WINDOWS-1252; delsp=yes;
format=flowed"
as I never use Windows (Microsoft products are not permitted to
enter my home).
After that, it was "modified" in other messages.
It would be fine if all Internet tools where using Unicode so this
kind of oddity was definitely escalated.
