It's not turning it off.  Something is crashing or causing a disconnection.  It was so bad on my machine here that I ran a wire, but I realize that's no fix for others.

I did find that opening my keychain, deleting my airport entries and reauthorizing seemed to eliminate the drops for me, but with the wire, I can't prove that any more.
