Scripting Sound Control Panel

I need a simple script that will toggle my sound output device back and forth from the built-in headphones output to a USB headset.

I found the anchor object "output" of the pane "com.apple.preference.sound", but according to the dictionary it has a name property and nothing else. OS 10.4.11.
