Has anyone tried scripting the creation of a image file using applescript
and an image stored in the clipboard, or better even, the raw data returned
from a programm like Filemaker, for instance ?

I have done it, with image data on the clipboard (copied by PowerPoint). It was very ugly. I wrote the PICT data to a temp file using "open for access <PATH> with write permission" and "write (the clipboard as picture) to fd" (ensuring that the 512 byte PICT header was manually prepended by writing 512 zero bytes to the file first), using "Image Events" to read the temp file as an image and then do my manipulations (scaling) before saving it as a PNG. Ugly code, but it works.
