If this is how delete works now, then there is no way to remove a
track from iTunes via AppleScript and subsequently keep its file
I haven't tested, but I'd say the logical approach would be to, before
deletion, ask iTunes for the track file's location, ensure that you
store
that as an alias, then delete the track from iTunes, then script
Finder to
move the file to wherever you want it.
I have tested. In all versions previous to iTunes 7.6, using delete to
remove a file from the main library (library playlist 1) merely
removed the track from iTunes. In order to Trash or actually delete
the file, a separate command, such as a Finder delete or Unix rm would
be required using a track's location property. As of iTunes 7.6, using
delete to remove a track from library playlist 1 will also move the
tracks file to the Trash. This is not the expected behavior.
Consequently, there is no way to preserve a track's file--that is,
keep it from going to the Trash--if all you want to do is remove the
track from iTunes.
