Yeah, the internal date representation isn't the issue we're seeing
here.  It seems to be related to the way AppleScript handles
arithmetic expressions.

Anyway, the typical UNIX 32-bit signed integer second count will roll
over to a negative number at 03:14:08 UTC on Tuesday, January 19,
2038.  Obviously any similar count based on an epoch before 1970 will
run out that much earlier than that date.

Last year wasn't the dog either; it was the pig or boar. The year
before that was the dog.  But yes, the current year is the Rat, the
first year of the 12-year cycle.  More specifically it's the year of
the Earth Rat, which is the 25th year of the 60-year cycle.
