Thanks Mark and Ed.
I do have Applescript as the default, not Script DeBugger.
So
1) your installer builder is not explicitly using the AppleScript OSA language (scripting system)
must be true.
I don't understand what other options they would have.
I've contacted the developer, but have not received a reply.
I'm curious because of a couple of scripts that run fine outside of the installer, but fail from within the installer.

Thanks Ed. This is very confusing.
Debugging isn't on. I'm actually not even using Script DeBugger.
I'm entering the script in a text field within my installer builder.
I build my installer, and when I run it, Script Debugger opens in
debug mode, paused at the first line of my script.
I transferred my installer to another machine that does not have
Script Debugger and it ran successfully without interruption.
So my installer is working, but why the issues on the origination
machine? Why does Script DeBugger even get involved?
Any thoughts?
Gary

I can think of two possibilities:

1) you installer builder is not explicitly using the AppleScript OSA
language (scripting system)
2) the 'default' scripting system on your machine has been changed
from AppleScript to Script Debugger's 'AppleScript Debugger X'. The
'default' language is used in many places where the user is not given
the option of choosing a scripting langauge.

To change the default scripting language, go to the General Settings
panel of the Script Editor's preferences window. In the General
Settings panel, there is a popup menu which lets you select the
default language.

Cheers
