1. The 'choose folder' command is inside a tell "Finder" block!
2. Is it possible that the large window size is due to some user
setting?

The main problem is, at least for a non-english user, that the
'choose folder' must be enclosed in a tell "finder" block to get
it's localised title bar and buttons.
If we leave it out of such a block, the call works perfectly BUT
the title and buttons are the english ones.
