encrypting PDF

Hello,

PDF files are usual text files. If you know the syntax you can treat them as text files, manipulate them and get a working PDF as result. And of course you can do that with AppleScript.

I'm doing this and it works well.

But now I need an encrypted PDF.
How can I encrypt an PDF like Adobe with an AppleScript? ...and without Acrobat..

Or even better:
How can I write some PDF tags into an encrypted PDF?
Encrypted PDFs are usual text files as well. But some portions of the text is somehow manipulated by the encryption. Can I do that as well with AppleScript?

Benedikt
