Ed, are you sure?
TID is global for a session. That is if you set it, you have to
restart SE to get back the default TID.
So, ... what about AppleScripts saved as an application? Script
Editor is no longer involved.
Uses the default ASTID. (just tested)
Does this mean that I don't have to worry about resetting the TIDS
to default in applications?
I follow the practice of setting the TIDS just before use
and doing nothing with the TIDS after use.
I don't restore the previous or default value.
You do not need to reset ASTID for any apps.
Actually setting ASTID at the end of an app has no effect whatsoever.
This is inline with Shane's explanation of AS instances.
When you launch the App it is not running under the open SE, it
launches the app (another instance of AS) and then it runs.
By the way, I know there use to be one case (that I can recall) that
using text item delimiters and AppleScript's text item delimiters
would yield different results.
I have to find this discussion somewhere, but for precaution I always
use ASTID instead of TID.
