Something seems to be wrong with System Event's 'make' command in Tiger.

From the Leopard release notes, in the section Other Enhancements, under
System Events: "The Property List Suite allows creating new property list
files and property list items." That implies it didn't work before Leopard.

The script posted by Luther Fuller doesn't try to create a property list file.
It just try to create a new folder on the desktop and it fails too under 10.5.1.

Under 10.4.1:

tell current application
path to desktop
alias "Macintosh HD:Users:yvankoenig:Desktop:"
end tell
tell application "System Events"
make new folder at alias "Macintosh HD:Users:yvankoenig:Desktop:" with properties {name:"ATEST"}
"Erreur dans System Events : NSArgumentsWrongScriptError"

Under 10.5.1 the error message is slightly different (but the macIntel running 10.5 is already switched off).
