Are you trying to make a script that runs as the user or as root?

What are you trying to accomplish with your script? (There may be canned
examples out there that can help.)

Which version(s) of Mac OS X are you targeting? What version of Workgroup
Manager and/or Mac OS X Server (if you've got an Open Directory Server) are
involved?
