How involved are your manipulations? You may be able to simply edit the XML
data as text. It's not as difficult as you might think.
Or you could bundle the OSAX with your script so your customers wouldn't
need to know about any additional software. Applications often bundle
libraries, there's nothing nefarious about doing that.
