Script Editor crashing

  • Subject: Script Editor crashing

I have a script with a section:

"tell application "System Events" to tell process "Skype"" etc..

The script is saved as a regular script (not an application). The script in turn is typically run by another script. In the last month or so, when I try to open the script in Script Editor (for editing purposes), it will try to run (opening Skype if it is not already open)... and then Script Editor crashes.

The problem only exists for this script, and it can be corrected temporarily by restarting the computer. In other words, the problem arises only after being called by another script a number of times before my attempt to open it for editing.

My question is why is this happening, why did it become a problem only recently, and how do I stop it. I'm using Leopard.
