Applescript, RSync and Tutorials

Hi All

I have recently set up a Mac Pro as a server. I also have a Buffalo Terastation that I would like to keep in sync with the Mac Pro. If possible I want to write a script that will simply copy all new and updated files to the Terastation. However, I have never written an Applescript and never used Rsync. I have googled but I am at a loss to understand all that is said (particularly the rsync stuff). Is there a tutorial I could head to that would help me please? Maybe one that also talks about the sort of thing I want to do?

I am also wondering if there is a danger backing up a file that is currently being used. Could that corrupt the file please?

Thanks.
