I have recently set up a Mac Pro as a server. I also have a Buffalo

possible I want to write a script that will simply copy all new and

Applescript and never used Rsync. I have googled but I am at a loss
to understand all that is said (particularly the rsync stuff). Is
there a tutorial I could head to that would help me please? Maybe
one that also talks about the sort of thing I want to do?
In addition to the man page <x-man-page://rsync>, if you enter the
rsync command in Terminal without any options, a list of the options
currently available will appear. Normally on Mac OS X, you would want
to add the -E option to whatever other options you choose.
You might want to check into RsyncX <http://archive.macosxlabs.org/rsyncx/rsyncx.html

I am also wondering if there is a danger backing up a file that is
currently being used. Could that corrupt the file please?
No.
