I've used both and they both work, but which is the official correct spelling?

In what context? If you're searching for the plugins folder in an application package by name, it's "PlugIns". If you're searching menus or documents for a name, AFAICT, there is no consistency.

Apple's applications use "PlugIns", but I've used "Plug-ins" successfully. I've searched for documentation and found hints, but nothing definitive.

My context is the "plugins folder in an application package", in other words, the folder that makes the Plug-ins pane appear in an application's Info window.
