Sounds like you want two things.  One, take some preexisting text and
reformat it randomly.  Two, keep the randomness going for
newly-entered text.  I'd say that trapping keystrokes is not something
you want to be doing with AS, but a cheap way of accomplishing the
desired result might be to have a script that just runs constantly and
resets the current input font in TextEdit a few times every second...
