I used OnMyCommand http://www.abracode.com/free/cmworkshop/
In the OMC editor I duplicated a contextual menu that runs an
application the changed the command to:
open -a "/Users/me/Library/Scripts/ShowHideExtension"
I set it to be visible when in the Finder at the top level of the
contextual menu.
I saved your Applescript as an application with no startup screen in
the Scripts folder.

Yes, I know; that's what I wrote in the first message in this
thread that I did.
By the way, I don't know whether it would work as an application;
it works just fine as a compiled script.
