What about something like Fast Scripts? There is a highly funtional no
cost version. It does put another item in the menu bar but you can
turn that off.
You would trigger this via keyboard command and can limit it to just a
specific application.
Myself, I use keyboard Maestro, which offers a good deal more features
that I am willing to pay for.

I have a simple script that takes address information from Apple's
Address Book and turns it into an envelope in Pages. Ideally I'd
trigger that script from a button in the Address Book toolbar but as
far as I can tell, I can't add a button to the toolbar.
I know that I can add a script to the Scripts menu but that is a
little messy and not as pretty as a button in Address Book's toolbar.
Maybe I need to make a little floating palette with buttons that
trigger scripts. If I go that route, I'll need to learn Xcode or at
least part of it, right? What is the easiest/fastest way to do it? (A
simple Display Dialog is not going to be enough for this project.)
Thank you for your help.
