I don't have any of these. Is there any other tutorial, book online,
etc i could use to start learning appleScript

The document you've been looking at is for developing OS X
applications with Xcode using a variant of the AppleScript language.
For normal use, which I think is what you would like to get started
with, Apple has some documents:
