Image Events Question

I unfortunately ran into a problem with scripting Image Events. I use a script to identify RGB color space in jpeg images within an InDesign document. When any are discovered, I use Photoshop to convert the mode to CMYK. However, Applescript still sees the corrected images as RGB. The reverse is also true - when I change an image from CMYK to RGB, Image Events still recognizes it as CMYK. Any thoughts?
