Yes, it appears that Applescript and Perl are using the Unicode
collation sequence, while the other languages I tried are using
traditional sorting by code point.

Except that locale settings seem to be ignored.  With my locale set to
C or POSIX or en_US.US-ASCII, the sort order should return to
"ASCIIbetical", but it doesn't.
