Hi,

The application uses the same folder path as was last selected in the the "Choose Folder" dialog when the command in question (menu item) was last selected. The problem is that the Application can be used for other purpose and so the last folder selected could be *anywhere* including a network volume.

I just need way to select the path via AppleScript/System Events.

Thanks a lot
Cheers
Dave

Hi All,

I have an application that is not scriptable, I have used System Events to select a "Save as Special..." menu item. This works fine but the application puts up a standard Choose Folder dialog in order to select the folder to store the file. I can keystroke a "return" and this works too to select the current folder path, but the folder path is not guaranteed to be where I need it to be, e.g. it could be pointing to anywhere on the hard disk(s). I need the file(s) save in a specific place so as to do Script processing on the resultant files.

Is there any way I can select the correct folder in the application before I send the "return" keystroke?

I don't know which is the used application.
Some of them uses aa a default folder the last one used to save a document.
If you always use the app to store in a given folder, you will get the file where you wish.

If the folder may change, I assumes that you may change the default path in the program's preferences file.
If you must do that, you will probably be force to quit the program then restart it so that it grabs the new default folder.
