I'm having similar problems with Filemaker Pro -- with a couple different versions on my HD, the tell target switches when I'm not paying attention. If there's a method to the madness, I haven't determined it yet.

Open the application's /Contents/ folder and open the "Info.plist" file with Property List Editor. Check the values of 'Executable file' and 'Bundle name' (also known as 'CFBundleExecutable' and 'CFBundleName'). Also open the /Contents/MacOS/ folder and note the name of the file it contains. These may tell you something, but I'm not sure what.
