After installing Snow Leopard, yesterday, I ran more file moving tests.
Here are the results ...

1.9, 1.5, 1.4, 1.1, 1.2, Relaunch Finder,
1.8, 1.7, 1.8, 1.4, Relaunch Finder,
1.7, 1.4, 1.5, 1.4, 1.5, 1.4, 1.3, Relaunch Finder,
1.7

Remember, these values are files/sec. It looks like the Finder is having a problem that slows the flow of data, but I don't have the slightest idea what is going wrong.

Hello Luther,

It looks like there could be a problem with the Finder.
But...

Are you still running that version with those "set folderList ... as alias list", "set fileList ... as alias list" or are you now trying a version avoiding those constructs?
Asking the Finder to repetitively build non-native alias lists certainly puts some burden on it.

On the other hand, we still don't know what the "do stuff" really does.
Could it be that part of the problem occurs because of that stuff?

Another way to discriminate a "Finder effect" from other causes could be to tell System Events instead of the Finder.
Or even to make use of the commands available thru the Standard Additions.

Well... just trying to guess what the hell may be at work. ;-)
Axel
