Luther, The answer might lie with the way SL measures GB.
In SL 1GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes In Leopard 1GB =1,073,741,824 bytes = 1024^3
That is if you have 432.6 GB in SL you would have about 404 GB in Leopard.
So, when you are computing available space, be aware that you might have some discrepancies like that.
I think it might be more involved than just GB vs GiB. If not, I'd like someone to explain to me how it is that:
1) Text Edit appears as "16.3MB on disk (12,734,083 bytes)". How do you reconcile those numbers in GB vs GiB? I can't.
2) du shows 2.5MiB (that's two point five) in human readable terms. The difference from above isn't due to extended attributes, but it might be some other meta-data.
There's some really interesting "math" going on.
