I recently wrote ...
The following snippet of code is run on my mini in Snow Leopard ...

"hdiutil create -type SPARSEBUNDLE -megabytes 4482 " & "-fs HFS+ -layout NONE " & imagePath & " -volname " & nameOfDisk
do shell script the result

imagePath is a folder on the startup disk on an old iBook running Tiger on which sharing is on and the connection is via AirPort with the remote disk mounted on the mini's desktop.

It fails to create the sparsebundle image file.

After doing a bunch of experiments today, I finally realized that the secret word that explains this behavior (failure to create the sparsebundle) is "Tiger". Sparsebundle image files are not implemented in Tiger, but were introduced in Leopard. I will need to find a Leopard network if I want to make valid tests.
