I have created a script that I saved as a Stay Open application.

When running this script from Script Editor it can run for hours without problem but if I try to launch it from Finder it immediately crashes (crash log at the end). Any ideas what the problem might be? Why does it say it is a PPC app?

Try saving it as an 'application bundle'.
Probably an osax running on Intel will not be compatible with a PPC applet running on Intel because the former will not go through rosetta.
Saving it as an application bundle should make it a universal applet.
