Somehow, I doubt that's done for free, and as well, the use cases for both
are *hugely* different. An OS shipping without a fairly solid range of print
driver support would be rather crippled for a large range of users.
I'll hazard that 80% of Mac users couldn't tell you why a given OSAX is
important with a gun at their heads, and 60% couldn't even tell you what an
OSAX is. But they all know what a printer is, and why being able to have a
printer "just work" is important.
