That's because all it takes is "Oh, this <useful tool> works on bill's mac,
and not on mine" and now, we're having to manage OSAX install/update/and
compatibility issues, adding to a rather large testing matrix for upgrades.
Really, there's more reasons than it delays donuts at work here.

On the other hand, a lot of that kind of thing is provided by various
applications, and AppleScript was always meant as more of a glue language
than one that stands on its own...and I think it's time Apple decided which
way it's going to go...a glue that can sometimes stand on its own, or a
standalone language with great application glue features.
