I tried to write simple scripts for Mail when it came out and found it the most frustrating thing I ever tried to script. It seems to be much the same today.
There was some guy who used to be on the list, Squirrel, or Hamster, or Cricket, or something, who worked on the dev team for Mail and he defended this disaster at one time. Still looks like a fright to me. I made a script to duplicate the message in the drafts folder, and it compiles and runs without error, but guess what, nothing happens. When I change it's object hierarchy to actually match the dictionary, it fails. No wonder I stayed with Eudora. It's scripting has issues, but nothing like this.
