This, however, returns info about the startup disk: info for "/Users/michelle/Desktop/LD.gif"
And these say the file wasn't found: info for alias "/Users/michelle/Desktop/LD.gif" info for file "/Users/michelle/Desktop/LD.gif"
Which results would you like to be different, and in what way?
(Personally, I don't think commands that operate on files should ever work with strings, because they're ambiguous. I think you should have to say “file …”, “alias …” or “POSIX file …”.)
