The gold star goes to Hamish, who described completely and correctly the
underlying behavior of the bug without apparently even having done any
testing!
Personally, what I'm most proud of is that I finally figured out how to send
(using C and Objective-C) a (very elementary) raw Apple event and read the
(very elementary) reply. Thus I have learned to do something that everyone
else had been doing quite adequately since 1991!

No, I don't believe that this bug has ever been described on TidBITS-Talk,
by me or any other Matt. There may be some miscommunication in the rumor
network here. m.
