I have already confirmed for iTunes (Alex, would be good if you
don't start different threads on the same topic). But iTunes 9,
which I suspected, is not the reason. Because I can now confirm the
exact same behavior on 10.6.1 under these conditions ...
Just to preempt any further speculation, we've confirmed that there is
a bug with spurious "event timed out" errors in 10.6; it's in Apple
events on the sending side, so it doesn't matter what application
you're talking to or what else you've got installed; and it will
affect about every 65000th event sent. Depending on the nature of
your scripts, you might hit that in anywhere from a couple of minutes
to a couple of days, which is why some people see it more readily than
others. I can't make any statements about when a fix will be
available, but we are looking into it.
