I've since found out that saving an AppleScript as an application creates a PPC app requiring Rosetta to run. I guess that's why it took between 16 and 25 bounces in the dock to open. So I saved the script as an application bundle and now it opens in one bounce. So, apparently, an application bundle is a UB app.

Another benefit is that the application bundle only uses approx 1.2% of the CPU as opposed to 4%, and Activity Monitor shows the name I gave it, instead of (null) like it did with the application.

However, it still won't quit using the menu or Cmd-Q. I have to force it to quit. If someone could comment on the required force quit, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Frank
