AppleScript is not like any other programming language. It's at a
higher
level than most (I'd say Automator is higher still). It's logical
that a
higher level language would have more capabilities built in than
lower level
languages.
I see this change as a backward step.
Hello to all,
Unless I'm wrong, the focus has been on AppleScript's string -> date
coercion capabilities.
Depending on the locale settings and so on.
With some consensus about a regression coming with Snow Leopard.
Perhaps could it be worth to have a breath and look at the various
editions of the ASLG, so as to check whether any promise appears to be
broken.
Currently, I haven't met any example spread throughout this thread
that could be seen as contradicting the language specification.
But I may of course be wrong, so don't hesitate to tell me I'm
abysmally wrong... ;-)
Perhaps does it just go about having relied on unspecified, yet
convenient, behaviors?
If yes, perhaps does Snow Leopard come with even more convenient
tricks (with emphasis on "tricks", as opposed to a norm)?
Axel
