Yes, I want it automated!

Dragging it requires handling it BY HAND.

I'm doing that now by selecting one message at a time and running a script on it.
I want the machine, through the use of a script, to do the work for me.

Is there a good reason for using selected messages? In Leopard, you can get a copy of a message simply by dragging it from Mail onto (for example) your desktop. It will be an .emlx document, not .txt, but the difference is slight. (If you open it with textEdit, you will see the complete header.) An .emlx document, located anywhere, is simply a Mail document that you can open in Mail by simply double-clicking it. I do it all the time.
