That's not so much a bug as simply the way things work. The same thing
happens for applications -- if you drag an alias over an app's icon, it gets
passed a reference to the original item, not the alias file.
OTOH, the open panel does let programmers (and ASObjC scripters) get either
the alias or the original item.
