Since when are American freezers scriptable by AppleScript ?
Technically, using the Phidget osax (http://lestang.org/osax/
Phidgets/, source code available @ google code), and buying a Phidget
board & a temperature sensor you could monitor your freezer
temperature from AppleScript. Using Smile you could even go further
and plot the data (http://lestang.org/meteo/)

I do not take lightly to threats about my freezer's ambient
temperature!

Actually, you're off by about 32 degrees.
No, he's not. Freezers are typically set to 0° Fahrenheit (-18°
Celsius). They would not be very effective if set right at the
freezing point of water; for one thing, the contents would start to
defrost as soon as you opened the door.
Not necessarily "as you opened the door". It may take a while. If,
say, the air is very dry, or if there is much wind in the kitchen
(for instance, the walls are not yet finished to build), then the
outermost layers of ice will evaporate. The phase transition from
ice to vapor is an endothermal one, meaning that it requires some
energy, so the remaining matter will stay at 0°C.
